Data Camp

I am sitting in a large room at Plymouth State University at the Data Institute sponsored by the Lakes Region Superintendents. The institute is led by Victoria Bernhardt from Education for the Future. She knows A LOT about using data to improve schools. However, it is difficult to absorb and analyze all the data we have. We are data rich and analysis poor. We often talk about how we don't have time to do the work with the data but if we don't use the data how will we know how to increase student learning?

We also need to figure out a way to get the data into a format that will be usable for classroom teachers. Do you use student data to inform your instruction? What do you use? How do you use it? What data do you wish you had?
